See how we view God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, the Bible, and the significant aspects of our faith. God God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. What the Bible says about God: Genesis 1:1(https://www.bible.com/bible/111/GEN.1.1.NIV) Genesis 1:26-27(https://www.bible.com/bible/111/gen.1.26-27) The Bible The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error. What the Bible says about the Bible: 2 Timothy 3:15-17(https://www.bible.com/bible/111/2TI.3.15-17.NIV) Jesus Christ Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to Earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. What the Bible says about Jesus Christ: John 1:1-5 (https://www.bible.com/bible/111/jhn.1.1-5)1 Corinthians 15:3-4(https://www.bible.com/bible/111/1co.15.3-4) Sin People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life. What the Bible says about Sin: Romans 3:23(https://www.bible.com/bible/111/rom.3.23) Salvation Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. What the Bible says about Salvation: Romans 6:23 (https://www.bible.com/bible/111/rom.6.23)Titus 3:5-7(https://www.bible.com/bible/111/TIT.3.5-7.NIV) The Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make us aware of our need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily. Baptism in the Holy Spirit was given at Pentecost, it is the promise of the Father, sent by Jesus after His Ascension, to empower the Church to preach the Gospel throughout the whole earth. What the Bible says about the Holy Spirit: Acts 1:8 (https://www.bible.com/bible/111/act.1.8)Acts 2:1-4 (https://www.bible.com/bible/111/ACT.2.1-4.NIV)Acts 19:1-6(https://www.bible.com/bible/111/ACT.19.1-6.NIV) The Gospel We believe man was created good (in the image of God) but voluntarily rebelled against God and stands in need of salvation. The Gospel is the “good news” that God has provided salvation for all who place faith in Jesus Christ. Our response is to turn to God, repent and orient our lives toward God, turn away from sin, believe and trust in God’s promises in Christ and commit ourselves to Him as His disciples. What the Bible says about the Gospel: Romans 3:21-26(https://www.bible.com/bible/111/ROM.3.21-26.NIV) The Church We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ and Jesus Himself is the Head. The point of our individual lives is to point to Him – to bring Him glory. The point of our existence as a corporate entity is also to point to Him – to proclaim to the world, through our love of God and each other, that God is real, His Word is true and His love is life-changing. What the Bible says about the Church: 1 Corinthians 12:12-31 (https://www.bible.com/bible/111/1CO.12.12-31.NIV)Ephesians 1:22-23(https://www.bible.com/bible/111/EPH.1.22-23.NIV) Baptism We believe in baptism in water by immersion for every believer. Water baptism represents: an outward testimony of what has happened inwardly with the experience of salvation, our dying to our old way of life and commitment to live in the resurrection power of Christ, a public confession of Jesus’ Lordship in our lives, and an obedient response to Christ’s command. We believe every born again Christian should be baptized. What the Bible says about Baptism: Matthew 3:13-16 (https://www.bible.com/bible/111/MAT.3.13-16.NIV)Matthew 28:19(https://www.bible.com/bible/111/MAT.28.19.NIV) Marriage Marriage is a sacred union ordained by God, exclusively between one man and one woman. Sexual relations are exclusively for heterosexual marital relationships. What the Bible says about the Marriage: Genesis 2:24 (https://www.bible.com/bible/111/gen.2.24) For a more detailed explanation of our beliefs and how they are played out, see the Assemblies of God Fundamental Truths and Assemblies of God Positional Statements. Beliefs Mission Our Purpose and Mission LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE, MAKE DISCIPLES, REACH THE LOST Great Commandment Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" Great Commission Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." VALUES PRAY FIRST • Prayer is not a service or a meeting, it’s a lifestyle. "Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving." - Colossians 4:2 • Prayer builds spiritual disciplines in my life. "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." - Mark 1:35 • Prayer reminds me of God’s faithfulness and helps me fight my battles. "I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray. Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways. By your mighty power you rescue those who seek refuge from their enemies. Guard me as you would guard your own eyes. Hide me in the shadow of your wings. Protect me from wicked people who attack me, from murderous enemies who surround me." - Psalms 17:6-9 • Prayer shifts the weight of life from me to God. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7 Watch: "Values - Pray First"(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/674153006) "Values - Pray First" (BC MDWK)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/675706808) MADE TO WORSHIP We all worship something. Worship is our response to what we value most. • God made me to be with Him. "And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, God himself will be with them and be their God.'" - Revelation 21:3 • God made me to express love back to Him. "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is your true and proper worship." - Romans 12:1 Watch: "Values - Made To Worship"(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/680536727) GET TO SERVE You don’t have to serve, you get to serve! The goal is simple: find a need, meet a need! • Do what seems INSIGNIFICANT "One day Jesse said to David, 'Take this basket of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread, and carry them quickly to your brothers. 18 And give these ten cuts of cheese to their captain. See how your brothers are getting along, and bring back a report on how they are doing.'" - 1 Samuel 17:17-18 • Offer what YOU HAVE "Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey—riding on a donkey’s colt." - Zechariah 9:9 • Get your HANDS DIRTY "So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him." - John 13:4-5 Watch: "Values - Get To Serve"(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/682521239) SPIRIT EMPOWERED The Holy Spirit is not a doctrine to believe, but a promise to receive! • The Holy Spirit ENABLES us "But I tell you the truth, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment." - John 16:7-8 • The Holy Spirit EQUIPS us "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit was is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law." - Galatians 5:16-18 • The Holy Spirit EMPOWERS us "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." - Acts 1:8 Watch: "Values - Spirit Empowered" (Part 1)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/687675179) "Values - Spirit Empowered" (Part 2)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/690221450) BIBLICALLY ENGAGED Prayer is when we talk to God and reading the Word is when God talks to us! "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." - Hebrews 4:12 • I must ACCEPT its AUTHORITY "We also thank God continually because, when you received the Word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it, not as the word of men, but actually as it is, the Word of God, which is at work in you who believe."- 1 Thessalonians 2:13 • I must ASSIMILATE its TRUTHS - By listening to, reading, and exploring God’s word. "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." - Romans 10:17 • I must APPLY its PRINCIPLES "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." - James 1:22 Watch: "Values - Biblically Engaged" (Part 1)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/702570711) "Values - Biblically Engaged" (Part 2)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/705099930) "Values - Biblically Engaged" (Part 3)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/707537966) "Values - Biblically Engaged" (7 Reasons God's Word Can Be Trusted)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/729814387) "Values - Biblically Engaged" (5 Reasons To Engage The Bible)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/731931641) "Values - Biblically Engaged" (3 Ways To Approach The Bible)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/734191336) FUTURE FOCUSED We are building the church not just for today but for future generations. We are called to to both REACH and KEEP the next generation. We will always prioritize and strategize both our programing and our facilities to minister to the next generation. "So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come." - Psalm 71:18 "One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts." - Psalm 145:4 • I must Pray for this generation. - Pray for them to fear and revere God. - Pray for them to be surrounded with divine favor. - Pray for God to bring them Godly friends and influences. • I must Prioritize church. "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." - Hebrews 10:23-25 • I must Participate in the development of the younger generation. - Be an example to them. - Be available for them. - Be positive about them. Watch: "Values - Future Focused"(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/748510650) BETTER TOGETHER God created us to live in community. In a world where isolation is on the rise, we need each other now more than ever. How do we accomplish this? Sunday Gatherings, All Campus BC MDWK, BC Ministries, BC Courses, BC Groups, BCY, BCKids, BCYA, BC Adults, Local Campus events and outreaches • We CARE for each other "And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other's feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you." - John 13:14-15 "It’s better to have a partner than go it alone. Share the work, share the wealth. And if one falls down, the other helps, but if there’s no one to help, tough!" - Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 • We ENCOURAGE each other "Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me." - John 14:1 "But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness." - Hebrews 3:13 • We PARTNER with each other "This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you." - John 15:12 "Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed." - Ecclesiastes 4:9 • We PROTECT each other "I have told you these things so that you will not stumble or be caught off guard and fall away." - John 16:1 "A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." - Ecclesiastes 4:12 • We PRAY for each other "After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed... 9 'I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me…'" - John 17:1,9 "Prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters." - Ephesians 6:18 Watch: "Values - Better Together" (Part 1)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/753555946) "Values - Better Together" (Part 2)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/756137799) RADICALLY GENEROUS We will lead the way with “over the top” generosity, because Jesus said, “it’s better to give than to receive.” The value of life isn’t determined by how much I achieve or accumulate, but by how much of my life I give away. "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." - Proverbs 11:25 • Choose to give joyfully. "God loves a cheerful giver." - 2 Corinthians 9:7 • Choose to give selflessly. "If one first gives himself to the Lord, all other giving is easy." - John Bonnell • Choose to give willingly. Isn’t tithing an Old Testament law? "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." - Matthew 5:17 • Choose to give intentionally. "You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. Intentionally give my time. Intentionally give my talent. Intentionally give my touch. Intentionally give my treasure." - 2 Corinthians 9:7 • Choose to give thankfully. "How can I repay the LORD for all his goodness to me?" - Psalm 116:12 Watch: "Values - Radically Generous/Kingdom Builders" (Part 1)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/760787347) "Values - Radically Generous/Kingdom Builders" (Part 2)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/756137799) KINGDOM BUILDERS It's Great Commission Christians being a Great Commission Church. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us." - 2 Corinthians 8:1-5 2021 Missions Giving: - #1 in New Jersey in total giving - Top 10 in the nation out of 13,000 churches - $2.2 million dollars given to missions in midst of pandemic Watch: "Values - Radically Generous/Kingdom Builders" (Part 1)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/760787347) "Values - Radically Generous/Kingdom Builders" (Part 2)(https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/756137799) Mission & Values History Over 100 Years 1911 Bethany Pentecostal Church grew out of a house meeting that began in Paterson. KINGDOM BUILDERS Global Missions. Local Church Expansion. Future Leaders. What is Kingdom Builders? 2 Corinthians 8:1-3 - "And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy, and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability." Through Kingdom Builders, we support key missions projects such as providing vehicles and humanitarian aid, church planting, resources, and pastoral development. Everyone, in every nation, deserves a chance to hear the Gospel. Kingdom Builders is committed to funding the growth of the church locally through expanding our own campuses, planting life-giving, Spirit-filled churches in our communities, and ministering to the hurting in our own backyards. We do not do this for comfort, fancy buildings, or praise, but for the purpose of making a space for those not yet here to personally know a loving, Heavenly Father. Kingdom Builders believes in coming alongside our future Christian leaders to foster a love for the Bible, God, and the lost. Our Kingdom Builders partnerships work with organizations that care for the physical and spiritual needs of our future leaders from birth through those beginning their careers. From the frozen plains of Siberia to the sweltering sands of North Africa, this region has posed a major challenge to missionary ministry. A variety of religions and age-old traditions dominate people’s lives, resulting in formidable resistance to the gospel. Yet woven into the fabric of every city, village, and nomadic dwelling is one common thread… People are hungry for truth. Faces of Eurasia shares stories and photos of Eurasians who are positively affected by your Kingdom Builders giving. From the Armenia Bible College to medical aid for ISIS refugees, Faces of Eurasia shares a personal look at who we help. • Europe

< Back to Projects Europe Project Highlight: Continental Theological Seminary "Engaging the secularized, inspiring church planting and revitalization, standing with the marginalized." Although Europe has rejected Christianity at times throughout its history, now is the time to recontextualize the gospel and accelerate the growth of strong communities of faith. Jesus taught us by example that contextualizing the gospel is key to connecting the message to everyday life. Church planting and revitalization are key to our missional strategy to reach marginalized and secular Europeans. Serving these communities–refugees, immigrants, victims of human trafficking, the poor–is part of an authentic, whole-person witness that has already begun to turn hearts to the Lord. • Northern Asia

< Back to Projects Northern Asia Project Highlight: The Oasis Center "Lord, continually reawaken my wonder." The Oasis Center does not simply believe in physical freedom for the women and children. God restores, body, mind, and spirit. Their ministry in partnership with Project Rescue consists of 3 distinct aspects of ministry: outreach, training, and refuge: The outreach of the Oasis takes place in local red-light areas; the training center focuses on a vocational and literacy training program for exploited women; The refuge is a safe home for survivors of trafficking. God is at work in the miraculous, but God is also at work in moments often overlooked. God’s power to renew minds, transform thoughts and reorient our hearts to reflect His heart never ends. There is no other that has the power to transform a heart. Reawaken to the wonder. Jesus is alive and well and at work in more ways than we know! Street2Street exists to help at-risk kids Play, Belong, and Matter through sports events, mentoring, and personal development. We create leaders who become champions in the game of life. Street2Street works directly with at-risk kids dealing with… • Abject poverty: The latest poverty rate for the New York City area was nearly 20 percent. • Rampant imprisonment: The U.S. still leads the industrialized world in youth incarceration rates. • Broken homes: Approximately 33 percent of kids under 18 in New York City grow up in fatherless homes. • Abysmal college attendance: Over 4 out of 10 students in New York City don’t progress beyond high school. Street2Street helps kids see that they can overcome these obstacles, develop personal character, pursue higher education, and realize their hopes and dreams. Through the help of Kingdom Builders Street2Street has ministered to over 20,000 at-risk kids in 20 urban communities. Previous Next
